A golf trolley umbrella holder keeps your umbrella over you and your bag while you walk, so both hands stay free for the trolley. Fitting one takes about five minutes and, with a clamp-on holder, you don't need to drill anything. Here's how to do it on most push and electric trolleys, including PowaKaddy, Motocaddy and iCart.
What you need
- A clamp-on umbrella holder, such as our Universal Golf Trolley Umbrella Holder
- A universal accessory station (included with our holder) if your trolley has no accessory point
- A golf umbrella
Step 1: Choose where to mount it
Most golfers fit the holder on the handle, just below the grip, so the umbrella sits over their head. You can also fit it on a round tube on the trolley frame. If you have a Motocaddy trolley with an accessory station, the holder can go straight onto that.
Step 2: Fit the accessory station (if needed)
If your trolley doesn't have an accessory point, open the universal accessory station clamp, put it around the handle or frame tube and tighten it so it can't slide or twist. Make sure it doesn't block the brake, the folding catch or, on an electric trolley, the controls.
Step 3: Attach the holder
Fit the umbrella holder onto the accessory station or clamp. Tighten the screws firmly until the holder doesn't move when you push it.
Step 4: Add your umbrella
Open your umbrella, slot the shaft into the holder and secure it. Angle the holder so the canopy covers you and the top of your bag.
Step 5: Test it
Push the trolley a few metres and fold it once to check nothing catches. With our holder, it folds down for storage and transport, so you can usually leave it fitted.
Tips for wind and rain
- Check the screws are tight before every round.
- Tilt the umbrella into the wind rather than letting it catch side-on.
- In very strong gusts, close the umbrella. No holder will stop a big golf umbrella acting like a sail.
- Pair it with a magnetic golf towel on the trolley frame to keep grips dry.
FAQs
Will a universal umbrella holder fit my trolley?
A universal holder fits most trolleys with a round handle or frame tube, including PowaKaddy, Motocaddy and iCart models. If your trolley has an unusual shaped frame, check the clamp range before you buy.
Do I need to drill holes in my trolley?
No. Clamp-on holders tighten around the tube, and you can take them off again without marks.
Can I fold my trolley with the holder fitted?
Usually, yes. Our holder folds down for storage and transport. Check it doesn't stop the trolley folding fully the first time you try.
