Session Overview
Total time: 15 minutes
- 3 minutes – Warm-up & tempo
- 8 minutes – Main consistency drill
- 4 minutes – Pressure challenge
Warm-Up & Tempo (3 minutes)
Focus: Rhythm and centred contact.
- Use a mid-iron
- Make smooth, controlled swings at around 60–70% Power
- Focus on balance and clean contact on the ball rather than speed
If you’re struggling with contact:
- Shorten the swing
- Slow the transition from backswing to downswing
Feel to look for:
A smooth takeaway and a calm, unforced strike.
Main Consistency Drill (8 minutes)
Focus: Start line and repeatable strike.
- Pick one club (mid-iron or short iron)
- Set a visual target on the net
- Hit sets of 5 balls, resetting your setup each time
Between each set:
- Step back
- Re-align
- Reset posture and grip
If contact is inconsistent:
- Move the ball slightly back in your stance
- Focus on brushing the mat after the ball
If shots feel rushed:
- Pause for one second at address before starting the swing
Feel to look for:
The club striking the ball first, then the mat.
Pressure Challenge (4 minutes)
Focus: Focus under light pressure.
- Choose a single target
- Hit 10 shots
- Count how many you strike cleanly with a controlled start line
If focus drops:
- Step away
- Take one deep breath
- Re-commit to your target before each shot
Feel to look for:
Commitment to each swing, not the result.
